I am an avid amateur photographer. The convenience of my mobile phone at my fingertips allows me to tell the story of my life in photos. I looked through hundreds of images looking for my top ten for 2022. It’s an exercise in looking back and reminiscing. Here they are.
I capture this view almost daily from my home looking east toward the family’s century farm. I especially like this winter image with the clouds accentuated by vibrant colors.
I met up with my friend John and his husband Scott on my winter Florida cycling vacation at Motorworks Brewing. The bright colors wrapping the banyan tree in the courtyard are an excellent play on light and dark.
Goats are photogenic with their varied expressions. I never miss a walk through livestock and goat barns at fairs and auctions.
Family tractors idle waiting for their sale. The death of my father-in-law led to leasing croplands and auctioning farm equipment. It was an emotional day watching the parade of equipment leaving the farm for the last time.
I had the day off in Troy from my job as Camp Services Director for the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure. My friend Kevin and I headed to Dayton on the Great Miami River Trail. The morning dew on this bridge outside of Tipp city was photo-worthy.
I lead a Heart of Ohio Cyclopaths ride on the Kokosing Gap Trail to a field of sunflowers at the Norris Grain Farms. The photo speaks for itself. Good morning!
Honey Run waterfall is a Knox County Park District must-see. The walk from the waterfall to the Kokosing River is short and scenic. The fall color was near the peak, and the textures of the bridge make it the focus of this photo.
I am a sucker for autumn colors! This view is from the wagon on the Central Ohio Draft Horse Association fall wagon train through Richland County from Malabar Farm State Park.
Sidelined from cycling with a broken collar bone, I took in fall colors on hikes. This is my favorite location on the Heart of Ohio Trail, the railroad cut just north of Mount Liberty.
I was a poll worker at the Milford Township Hall for the November midterm election. Putting the signs along the road, I caught this image. It exemplifies rural democracy in action with the township hall glowing and the American flag flying.
Happy New Year!

Beautiful photos, Tom. I especially like the last one in terms of story.
